Wetlands & Working Lands Interpretive Walk
Put on some sturdy footwear and join a Northcoast Regional Land Trust naturalist for a walk through the meadows, wetlands, and estuary of the Freshwater Farms Reserve. Learn about the natural history of the bottomlands, and about the historic and current land use practices around the bay. Families are encouraged. Walk is approximately one mile over uneven terrain. Rain or Shine - dress appropriate for weather conditions. There is standing water and saturated wetland soils, so rubber boots are the best bet for comfort. Portable restrooms are available. This is a free event. Please RSVP.

Lay of the Land
Join the Land Trust and get the Lay of the Land, a one-hour presentation that gives an overview on what we are doing to protect and enhance special places − our region’s farms, forests, rangelands, and natural areas.
Second Thursday of every month
4:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Our new “Lay of the Land” program offers free, one-hour informational events designed to introduce our community to the land trust model of conservation. In particular, the events highlight the Northcoast Regional Land Trust’s work – our mission, purpose, accomplishments, goals – and our vision for a sustainable North Coast future.
Lay of the Land presentations are full of visually stimulating information and includes a nine-minute documentary which shares stories about “This Place We Call Home”.
Lay of the Land is held at the Northcoast Regional Land Trust office (901 Samoa Blvd, Arcata) the second Thursday of every month from 4 PM to 5 PM. Everyone is welcome, but space is limited. Please RSVP.
