Welcome to California's North Coast

With free-flowing rivers, rugged mountain ranges, and rural towns surrounded by open ranges, dairy farms, redwood forests, wild salmon runs and cackling geese, the North Coast region is considered one of the last best places on the planet.

The Northcoast Regional Land Trust is a nonprofit organization with a focus of protecting land and water on nearly five million acres on California’s North Coast encompassing Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity Counties. Find out more About us.

Summer Paddle

Another beautiful event out on the land! On Saturday, August 18th, this natural history tour of the bottomlands and bay, led by NRLT naturalist and Humboats, Hawk Martin,  started at Freshwater Farms Reserve, meandered through Freshwater Slough, and finished at Woodley Island. Stay tuned for our future Canoe the Sloughs!

Pints for Non Profits

On August 15th NRLT's supporters came together at Redwood Curtain Brewing Company for a fun-filled night of specialty beer,  delicious snacks, and wonderful music by blues musician Buddy Reed. Our first ever Pints for Non Profits was a huge success, with a packed house the entire evening!  $1 of each pint sold will go towards our important community work. A special thanks to all that attended!

NRLT Annual Advisors' Meeting

On Thursday, August 9, 2012 NRLT Advisors, Board Members and Staff came together at the newly acquired Freshwater Farms Nursery property, a 20 acre addition to Freshwater Farms Reserve, for NRLT's Annual Advisors' Meeting.

The meeting began with a reception, while enjoying snacks and drinks. NRLT Executive Director, Lindsay Magnuson, gave a briefing on NRLT projects, accreditation and development updates. Advisor Liaison, Heidi Bourne led a roundtable discussion by inviting participants to share their reasons for being a part of NRLT and encouraging creative ways of involvement. Outreach & Development staff, Sarah Pilkington reminded everyone of fun upcoming events, such as thematic Interpretive Walks, Pints for Non Profits and Canoe the Slough. There was a special focus on the Annual Celebration.

The evening ended with a  tour of the Freshwater Farms Reserve property and the work-in-progress Freshwater Nature Trail, to brainstorm ideas for the future. Attendees enjoyed the tour, asked great questions and gave valuable feedback. NRLT staff is grateful for having a such diverse and committed group of Advisors and Board Members!
