Want to help lead environmental education field trips for elementary schoolers? NRLT hosts free educational field trips for our local elementary schools where students are introduced to the scientific method and answer the question, “can farms be part of a healthy environment?” We expect to lead 10 field trips this fall (generally Thursdays and Fridays, 9am-12pm) and rely on committed, caring volunteers to assist as guides in various capacities.

Join us for a training at our demonstration property, Freshwater Farms Reserve, on Saturday, Sept. 16th, 9am-12pm to try it out for yourself! Participants will experience a mock-field trip, learn basic environmental education methods, role-play relevant scenarios, and learn more about our Field Trip Guiding volunteer program. Participants will need comfortable clothes, shoes and a good attitude. Be prepared to get wet and muddy! Rainboots are available to borrow from NRLT. Light lunch, coffee, and tea provided. Please RSVP for this training here.

If you are interested in being a Field Trip Guide but unable to attend the training, please contact Education and Outreach Manager, Nadia Van Lynn, n.vanlynn@ncrlt.org for exceptions.
